It could be organisations that you know who sponsor other sports clubs, and might be interested in sponsoring Kettering Rugby Club. We just need to know who to contact and we'll take it from there! In return, all the Members that let us know about a potential new Sponsor, will be entered into a free draw to receive 2 free England tickets for an international at Twickenham during the 6 Nations in 2011, when a new sponsorship package of GBP100 or more is taken out (for players, this would be over and above their annual membership payment, should they have their own sponsor). 22/03/2010 The Future's Bright, The Future's BLUE
A local rugby club will be unveiling its ambitious plans for the future on Friday, April 23rd 2010. Kettering Rugby Football Club (KRFC) will be presenting their 5 year plan to improve all aspects of the club for members and the community at large. The plans range from improving the clubhouse and its facilities to cater for events and functions to improving and maintaining the coaching scheme which is already seen as a centre of excellence around the region. Bill Linnell, Chairman of KRFC’s Taskforce team said ‘This is a fantastically exciting time for the club and all those involved in it. Our plans are big but certainly achievable and will benefit not just the club but the entire community. Among our many goals is the plan to upgrade the clubhouse and changing rooms which will allow us to host more events and schools tournaments in a secure but welcoming atmosphere.’ Doug Bridgeman, Director of Rugby at the club said, ‘we have always been an ambitious club and our 5 year plan shows our desire to perform both on and off the pitch hasn’t diminished. As a community club we are proud of our development structure which this season has borne fruit with so many of our colts squad competing and winning regular first team places. Over the next 5 years and beyond, I expect us to continue nurturing and promoting home grown talent.’ The bold steps the club are taking come of the back of a challenging year for the Waverley Road based club who suffered vandalism damage to the tune of almost £9,000 shortly before Christmas. In addition to the postponement of games during the wintry weather, finances for the club looked worrying and jeopardised many community based initiatives. Lennie Newman, club spokesman said ‘The damage and lack of matches severely dented the clubs finances however we are confident we can pull through and our 5 year plan is testament to our confidence in the future. We are planning a number of events throughout the summer which are or we hope will become regular fixtures including our beer festival in June and rounders, cricket and football matches. Indeed, part of the plan is already taking shape as work began on the new All Weather pitch at the Tresham Institute. With £80,000 support from the RFU Capital Fund the pitch is being constructed to allow the club to train and play matches on in spite of the weather. Steve Kind, Director of Finance at Tresham said: “We are very excited about the developments we are able to make at our Kettering campus with funding provided by the Football Foundation and the Rugby Football Union. This brand new Astroturf pitch will be a great asset not only to Tresham’s learners but to the local community and local sports teams who will benefit from having a 3G fit for purpose facility to train and play on.” Ross Baxter, RFU Regional Funding and Facilities Manager said: The club and college have worked hard to develop rugby development plans to demonstrate how the new facilities will support our growth objectives and we look forward to the continued growth of the club and sport in the town. Bill Linnell concluded saying ‘It’s going to be an exciting period for the club, we hope the community will join us and get involved.’
