THE BLUES NEWS
Kettering Rugby Club, incredibly, runs in excess of 15 teams every single week during the season. There are a vast number of people associated with the club including parents from the junior section, coaches, volunteers, players and social members. Communicating with everyone effectively is extremely difficult and in order to improve this aspect we’ve decided to relaunch its regular Kettering Rugby Club Newsletter ‘The Blues News'. The aim is to report on news, developments, marketing initiatives and events from every section of the club and we would welcome your input on a regular basis. 2009 - 2010 SEASON
2009/10 promises to be a tough season from a financial point of view both for the Club and for members who are fearful of job losses. The 1st XV have weighed in to support the Club by organising an 'End of the Season' party on Saturday night, while at the other end of the Club the Mini & Juniors have continued to support the Club financially and are taking a very pro active approach to increasing their membership by looking to appoint one of the Senior players to run tag rugby sessions in local schools. We have work ongoing at the Clubhouse with players giving their time and skill and we are confident that we can deal with the problems the Club (ie all of the members - not just the officers) will face next year. What we do have are members who have skills, particularly in the Building trade and associated work, so if you are aware of opportunities for them either in employment or just a one off job then please give them the opportunity of an interview or to quote for a job. We need to recognise the 'Kettering Rugby Club' family and look after our own.

SUPPORT YOUR CLUB
Kettering is a better supported club than many, and there is no doubt at all that when the crowd gets behind the team, the team responds. After a difficult start to the season, the side is beginning to play to its considerable and attractive potential, so we look to its supporters to do their bit by turning up in the numbers we used to see when we got into this division before. Counting next week, we have four remaining matches at home and only three away. So do be sure to come to all of these home matches. Bring your friends, make a day of it – support Helen in the kitchen by having lunch at the Club – and stay on after the game to meet the players and visiting supporters and drink a few pints of our excellent beers. Although the funding for next season is yet to be finalised, everyone knows that it is going to be well down on this year. Add to that the problems that all clubs are going to have with finding sponsors, and it is clear that times are going to be hard. So PLEASE • If you are a spectator but not a member, do join the club for next season – there’s a membership form in the clubhouse • Do come to as many matches as you can, and bring along some friends • Do have lunch in the clubhouse before the match • Do come in for a drink before and/or after the match • Do join the 200 club and win prizes!

FUNDING
The Club has an urgent need for someone to look into funding opportunities. There are so many opportunities that we are not picking up. We urgently need a person or persons to look after and follow-up on these missed opportunities and come up with some new one’s. Other clubs have been able to take advantage of this and we could do so as well, but unfortunately, the people around the club who are involved have so many areas to cover that they are unable to devote time to this one aspect. So, if you feel that you are able to offer to either head this up, or would just like to be part of it, then please let me know. Peter May : secretary@ketteringrugbyclub.co.uk
