‘Satala destroys Bosworth with 4 try haul!'
Kettering moved up to third place in the league with this good win at Market Bosworth and although Nathan Satala will go down as the try scoring hero it was the performance of the whole team that made the victory so impressive. At times the forwards struggled against a stronger scrummaging outfit but in all the other facets of the game the Blues side were superior and at times ran the home sides defence ragged attacking it from anywhere on the park.
The Blues kicked off in great rugby conditions and in front of a decent crowd, and went straight onto the attack as they set a cracking pace with forwards and backs looking to get involved and it was this combination that eventually set up the first try. The referee played good advantage to Kettering in their own twenty two, and good hands created some space, forwards and backs then got involved before a pass put scrum half Tom McGoldrick clear and his searing pace was too much for the Bosworth defence and with Tim Jones kicking the conversion, the Blues were on their way.
Satalas first try on thirty minutes showed why the Blues think so highly of this young Fijian, picking up a poor pass well inside his own half, he then produced a number of unbelievable side steps which took him through the first line of defence, he then turned on the gas to leave the home sides cover defence standing to score under the posts giving Tim Jones an easy conversion. Five minutes later and he was scoring again as Bosworth tried to run the ball out of defence Satala went for the interception, called it right and was in again under the posts for another converted try as Tim Jones again did his business. Right on half time though Bosworth scored a try to just about keep in touch.
Half Time: Market Bosworth 5 Kettering Blues 21
Market Bosworth started the second half full of fire as they played down the slight slope and the Kettering defence had some defending to do, but eventually the visitors saw off the home sides efforts and worked their back into the Bosworth half, where it wasn't long before they were scoring again. The forwards created the situation turning over the home sides ball, and Kettering backs moved the ball wide to Tom Coles whose quick feet and pace were too good for the home side and he touched down in the corner.
Next it was the turn of Satala as Kettering turned over a Bosworth line out, the ball was quickly moved wide and the young centre was over for his hat trick with a straight forward run in, Tim Jones converting with a great kick from the touchline. Five minutes later he made it four tries on the day as he seized on a home sides handling mistake and turned defence into attack as he once again used his power and speed to get to the line. Kettering eased off then with the game won and right on the full time whistle the home side scored a good unconverted try from a well worked backs move after they had won a clean line out for once in the game. Immediately the referee blew the final whistle and the Blues players knew that this match was another good job done on the road and all thoughts began to turn to next weeks meeting against Ampthill at Waverley Road.
